A Great New App from Google to Scan, Save and Share Photos

December 3, 2016
PhotoScan is a new app released by Google Photo a few days ago. As its name indicate, PhotoScan lets you easily capture, scan and save photos using the camera of your own phone.  More importantly, PhotoScan enhances the digital scans of your photos by applying automatic filters to remove glare, edit the edges, and straighten images turning them thus into high resolution files. PhotoScan is available for both Android and iOS users.

For those of you using Google Photos, scanned photos through PhotoScan are automatically saved to your Photos account. From there you can access advanced editing features and filters to apply to your digital scans before sharing them with others through generated links. Here is a quick overview of the main features offered by PhotoScan:

  • Get glare-free scans with an easy step-by-step capture flow
  • Automatic cropping based on edge detection
  • Straight, rectangular scans with perspective correction
  • Smart rotation, so your photos stay right-side-up no matter which way you scan them
