Writing Tools: 50 Essential Strategies for Every Writer (Book)

March 26, 2017
This week’s featured book is authored by Roy Peter Clark and titled ‘ Writing Tools: 50 Essential Strategies for Every Writer’.  While everybody can use this book to enhance their writing fluency, we think that it is a must read for student researchers who are usually engaged in extensive writing projects. The book highlights a number of practical tools  to help you master the craft of writing. In coming up with these collection of tools, the author has particularly made recourse to various sources including seminal writing guides (e.g., the Elements of Style), conversations with professional writers and editors, and insights from America’s popular writing teachers.

"Writing Tools: 50 Essential Strategies for Every Writer" is a book that ‘approaches the act of writing as less of a special talent and more as a purposeful craft.’ The tools included are supposed to help you learn the basics of the craft , and as Roy Peter eloquently stated:
These  practical tools will help to dispel your writing inhibitions, making the craft central to the way you see the world. As you add tools to your workbench, you will begin to see the world as a storehouse of writing ideas. As you gain proficiency with each tool, and then fluency, the act of writing will make you a better student, a netter worker, a better friend, a better citizen, a better teacher, a better person.(Kindle Location, 119) .
